Military Family Life

"Sarah Smiley captures military family life like no other - with endearing and descriptive writing that brings both laughs and tears." - The Bradenton Herald
Syndicated columnist and author Sarah Smiley has been a military dependent for all but six weeks of her life. Her father and husband are both Navy pilots. She was born in a military hospital (while her dad was on deployment) and has had two of her own three children in military hospitals.
In short, Sarah barely knows any other way of life. ("The smell of JP-5, jet fuel, and aircraft carriers was the smell of my dad's office," Sarah once wrote.)
For the last decade, as Sarah's writing career took off, she used the platform to champion causes important to and about military families. She has been a frequent guest speaker at military spouse events and a guest commentator on national news programs such as CNN, Fox News and MSNBC. Her story and that of her family has been featured on Nightline and The Early Show.
Below are links to columns, articles and features written by Sarah that have particular interest to military spouses and families.
